Jockfall

Jockfall is the place for anyone who enjoys outdoor life, fishing, or magnificent nature. Here you can find Jockfallet waterfall, which with its 9-metre drop makes up the highest threshold in the Kalix River. The river has its source near Kebnekaise, the highest mountain in Sweden, and makes its way 46 Swedish miles southeast before ending in the sea just outside of Kalix.

The Kalix River is one of the untouched and protected national rivers in Sweden and was crowned National River in 1993. This is a very important protection for the river and prohibits the building of power stations along the river. The Kalix River offers very varied fishing with grayling, trout, whitefish, pike, and first and foremost salmon! Jockfall is well-known as one of the best angling and salmon fishing sites in Europe. It’s not unusual to reel in salmon of up to 20 kilos. Apart from fishing the area offers various other outdoor activities, such as hiking, biking, and snowmobiling. Or why not simply enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the village and the waterfall!? And don’t forget to visit the salmon ladder, which aids the salmon on their way to their spawning grounds.

When travelling from central Överkalix up to Jockfall, you will pass the Arctic Circle. At Jockfall Fishing & Activities you can get a special certificate for passing the Arctic Circle, a lovely memento from your visit to the Arctic.

Jockfall Fishing & Activities offers accommodation, food, fishing gear and souvenirs.

Explore Jockfall offers guided tours for hiking, canoeing, and biking, and a boat outing with fishing as well as winter activities.

At Långvillegården and Hembacken Lodge there are cosy accommodations to rent near the waterfall.
